This event is part of the European Maker Week, an initiative promoted by European Commission and implemented by Maker Faire Rome in collaboration with Startup Europe. It's a celebration of makers and innovators all over Europe.
The format of the Makers Marathon, included in a series of light informal talks: the Unconference nights. The format is aiming to foster the spreading and the contamination among researchers, designers, scientists, PhD candidates and the most interested students. They will be invited to participate by presenting their projects in an informal setting and in a tight brief time.
Each participant will be offered a slot of 12 minutes in which to present 10 slides. This time constraint is an opportunity to present their projects without getting into the technical specificities that every research carries within it while still allowing a comprehensive overview of the specific subject. Such event allow a dynamic, engaging and spontaneous confrontation on issues of great scientific impact and extremely topical that will be defined from time to time according to the suggestion of the audience. The advantage of this format which, by its nature, avoids many aspects of traditional conferences is to emphasise the participative and human aspect offered by the encounter between people interested in the same topic.
These aspects will be completed by the presence of a refreshment stand which will give the meetings a convivial and pleasant character. The events are open to all who are interested in the topics covered and will strengthen the coexistence of individuals who have different skills and they come from different background. We will have a full contamination that will generate unpredictable output and unexpected collaborations!
