This event is part of the European Maker Week, an initiative promoted by European Commission and implemented by Maker Faire Rome in collaboration with Startup Europe. It's a celebration of makers and innovators all over Europe.
Menudos Makers, The CCi and The Hour of Code.
Menudos Makers, El CCi y La Hora del Código.
Activities for 14 people, making up an educational experience for 3 hours, to discover computing, electronics and related innovations.
If you are aged between 7 and 104
Friday 3rd of June 2016 at 7.30 m, come and design yourself a Raspberry Pi 2 (RasPi) computer, discover an easy way to explain a Science Project in 5 mins, learn how to program with ’la hora del código’ (the hour of code), a global movement covering tens of millions of students from more than 180 countries.
Our greatest hope from an educational and pedagogical point of view is to offer the rediscovery of computing and electronics as our main activity. Our aim is to put the RasPi at the service of educators, schools, teachers, students, families and the Educational Administration itself. Our thinking is based on the fact that the RasPi itself is a ‘naked computer’. All the accessories can be removed without affecting the basic functioning, as it is formed by a board supporting the necessary components in a common computer and it can behave as such. This makes it the ideal way to break down existing barriers and so discover the functioning of hardware, to be seen as something achievable, simple and without mysteries. We love what we know….
’Children Canvas to Innovate’
The CCi or “Children Canvas to Innovate” is devised to follow a methodology to help us show our Project in an easy way. After all, what is innovation but to make society accept a novel idea? If we are not able to explain our new proposals it will be very difficult for them to be accepted and recognized.
It is so easy that it can be used by anyone, including children.
’Let the light of the Internet always be on’
A gaming experience and a good example of disruptive thinking, which proposes an educational experience to the participants at LEAN experiment to discover how we accept some situations and take for granted that there is no other solution. An experience in order to place people in a real situation and to make them experience frustration but ultimately a satisfactory outcome.
”The Time of the Code”
The time of the code is a worldwide campaign for children to keep playing for an hour, learning and creating through technology. Millions of students from more than 180 countries will take part. Choose one of the one-hour activities and start to learn! No experience is needed and people of any age can participate.
We bring it to the Canary Islands
A mother’s / father’s testimony related to one of the educational experiences.
I find it very interesting that children can be taught about technology in the way you do it, to let them know what goes on behind simply ‘turning on and clicking the mouse’.
