The event will exhibit prototypes and projects developed by the students during the “Master of Science in Product Design”.
The event will exhibit prototypes and projects developed by the students during the “Master of Science in Product Design” in direct contact with ten temporary spontaneous communities in the city of Rome. The communities span from Tai Chi classes taken in a park, to Pakistan playing cricket in a public square, to re-Take volunteers taking care of the public spaces, to urban farmers, stray cat communities in the Roman ruins, critical mass, book sharing, and many more.
During the course the students met and worked in direct contact of the people from the local communities and started a social design laboratory projecting for them prototypes capable of helping the groups in their activities or in facilitating communication processes between the participants, using for this purpose also prototyping platforms as Arduino in order to create interactive electronic objects.
The Master gather together an international class made up of students coming from EU and non-EU countries such as Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain, Iran, Uzbekistan, China, India, etc. and is a studio-based program directed to those who wish to deepen their innovative abilities, who are interested about the integration of design, technologies, cultures and business, and who want to be involved in the creative challenges of making objects and ideas that improve people's lives. Candidates joining this Master are expected to design extensively, think creatively and reflect critically.
The target of the event will be: local administrators, members of the communities involved, policy makers, roman fab labs, makers, innovators, coworkers, professors, students, confederations of crafts and of small and medium enterprises.
