A Glimpse into our School Hackerspace: Ideas - Open Technologies - Collaboration!
Από όσα συμβαίνουν στο σχολικό μας hackerspace: Ιδέες – Ανοιχτές Τεχνολογίες – Συνεργασία!
We would like to invite you to an amazing trip, starting from our School Lab and reaching the Open Technologies Universe. We would like to show how ideas can be turned into exciting DIY projects, using open source software and hardware, and through cooperation with classmates. Every Sunday, our School Lab is turned into a School Hackerspace. We named it "v-space": v for Vironas and for 5 (latin number, 5th Senior High School Vironas). We generally follow a "hacker ethic", which includes (a) freedom, in the sense of autonomy as well as of free access and circulation of information, (b) distrust of authority, (c) learning by doing and peer-to-peer learning, (d) sharing, (e) solidarity and (f) cooperation.
The event is to start at 19.00 am and last approximately for two hours. We are to embark on our "journey" giving a short multimedia presentation in the school's conference room, aiming at providing an introduction to the Open Technologies and the Maker Movement. Our projects are to be exhibited in the school lab and the guests will have the opportunity to discuss with the pupils their ideas, the ways of collaboration in our School Hackerpsace, the construction and programming process of the projects and so on.
We will invite pupils of other schools in our region, friends, parents, members of the local community and, in short, all potential stakeholders. Anyone who is interested in discussing open technologies and willing to exchange ideas and good practices is more than welcome!
