This event is part of the European Maker Week, an initiative promoted by European Commission and implemented by Maker Faire Rome in collaboration with Startup Europe. It's a celebration of makers and innovators all over Europe.

Electronics and coding workshop at Le Mans' European festival
Atelier d'éléctronique et programmation à la fête de l'Europe de Sablé-sur-Sarthe
The event will take place at the European Village, on square Raphaël Elizé, in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, on May 19, 2018, from 10am to 5pm.

We are planning to run the following workshops:

- Tinkering and experimenting with Piccolo. Piccolo is an open source drawing bot that allows to create simple shapes or write text. The mini cnc machine needs to be programmed to achieve that purpose. Participants will learn how to move the mini cnc along the x, y, and z axis by programming it via a block coding software ( mblock).

- Introduction to electronic prototyping and programming. Participants will be experimenting with a piece of electronic textile (an e-textile bag, specifically). They will program an arduino board embedded within the bag, in order to achieve different results, for example a blinking bag (via embedded LEDs), a bag that produces sound (via embedded piezo speaker), a bag that reacts to variation in the amount of light or in temperature (via embedded light and temperature sensors).

- 3D drawing workshop. Participants will be able to design 3D objects collectively (via the free and open source game Minetest) and subsequently export their creations for 3D printing. After having produced a 3D shape together, participants will be able to transform it into an .stl file.
